The combination of product status codes, available inventory, and linked product type designations affect the behavior of the Enter and edit orders window when you tab away from the Product field or when you enter an order Qty that is greater than the available inventory. The behavior of the Opportunities window is also affected.
■ product status codes are set at the Manage products window.
■ available inventory is set at various windows:
□ stock item quantities are set at inventory or warehouse windows. See Product Inventory.
□ non-stock items are designated at the Manage products window.
■ linked product type designations are set at the Upsell/Replace window.
After entering a product code and tabbing away from the Product field
If the product status = Not Available (N) and the available inventory = none/any/non-stock:
■ If there are no linked Upsell or Replacement items, nothing happens.
■ If there are linked Upsell or Replacement items:
□ The Product field is cleared.
□ The Opportunities window opens:
■ A message informs you that the specified product code is not available, advising you to instead select an alternative product.
■ The Replace button is enabled.
■ The linked Upsell and Replacement items are listed.
If the product status = Out of Production (O) and the available inventory = none:
■ If there are no linked Upsell or Replacement items, nothing happens.
■ If there are linked Upsell or Replacement items:
□ The Product field is cleared.
□ The Opportunities window opens:
■ A message informs you that the specified product code is not available, advising you to instead select an alternative product.
■ The Replace button is enabled.
■ The linked Upsell and Replacement items are listed.
If the product status = Out of Production (O) and the available inventory = any/non-stock:
■ If there are no linked Upsell or Cross-sell items, nothing happens.
■ If there are linked Upsell or Cross-sell items:
□ The Opportunities window opens:
■ The Add button is enabled.
■ The Replace button is enabled if there are linked Upsell items.
■ The linked Upsell and Cross-sell items are listed.
If the product status = Active (A) and the available inventory = none/any/non-stock:
■ If there are no linked Upsell or Cross-sell items, nothing happens.
■ If there are linked Upsell or Cross-sell items:
□ The Opportunities window opens:
■ The Add button is enabled.
■ The Replace button is enabled if there are linked Upsell items.
■ The linked Upsell and Cross-sell items are listed.
Note: Linked Replacement items are ignored for products with an Active status because these products generate backorders.
After entering an order Qty that is greater than the available inventory
If the product status = Out of Production (O) and the available inventory = partial:
■ If there are no linked Upsell or Replacement items, nothing happens.
■ If there are linked Upsell or Replacement items:
□ The Qty field resets from the value ordered to the value available.
□ The Opportunities window opens:
■ A message informs you that there is insufficient inventory for the specified product code, advising you to instead select an alternative product or to click Add to replace the unavailable number of units.
■ The Add button is enabled.
■ The Replace button is enabled.
■ The linked Upsell and Replacement items are listed.
